Relief Assistant

UX Case Study: mobile app for managing life at flood relief camp

Role: UX Design & Research

Project Duration: October 2021 to April 2022

After the 2018 and 2019 floods in Kerala, India, temporary relief camps were set up to house refugees, but few considered the psychological trauma they faced. To help victims recover, we conducted research to develop criteria for assessing well-being in relief camps. Our study included user interviews of 250+ victims and was presented at an international conference and published in a Scopus-indexed journal. This project aims to extend our research and promote the well-being of relief camp residents during their stay.

How might we improve the well-being and psychological resilience of victims residing in flood relief camps, by developing a user-centered solution that addresses the challenges and shortcomings identified in the existing relief camp framework?
